It is unfortunately only periodically that i remember that this blog exists.*rolls brown eyes*So it's been almost a year.I've been busy with the following:Mayfaire (or more precisely I am now a full time member of the local SCA group. Shire of Cuil Cholium to be exact)Church -- single's group and Sunday SchoolWork -- nannying is very funI have been working on a 12th Century outfit, including Paternoster (precursor to the rosary, I'm not Catholic, but a 12th Century persona would be) and sash. Not to mention handweaving about three yards of brown and tan checkered trim.Modern stuff -- I am going to get paid to do up some sundresses for my girls.:DThat's all for now, will update more later. posted by Naomi 1:52 PM Add a comment
*sings* Dumbarton's drums they sound sae bonny... :D I have been spending time doing EVERYTHING save updating my blog. Which is kind of pathetic if we even care to think about it. I'm not sure of course that anyone is even reading this thing. Been spending my time at my nanny job. I take care of two girls, ages 5 and five months. It's an adventure. Not to mention I have an incredible tan and have lost 15 pounds. I do have to start getting things ready for Simple Day which is coming up in about a month. A gown to make jaws drop. Actually may not happen. LOL Nai posted by Naomi 4:35 AM Add a comment
Suddenly I realize BOOM, it's been eons and eons since I updated... So I had probably better do just that. 1. I'm still working at the same ol place. I am currently job hunting though. 2. I was in a car accident in July. I messed up my back, broke my hand and have the most incredible scar on my elbow. My best friend broke three vertabrae, but she is walking again. 3. There is a new doggie in my life. His name is Pippin, a pug/chi cross and quite adorable. Now, I'll go back to my life and try to update more regularly. I had a job interview at an employment agency today. For no legal training my grasp of legal terminology is "rather good". I'm looking for an office job, preferably at a legal office. My new major is paralegal and I have class tonight. posted by Naomi 12:08 PM Add a comment
*sigh* My day off and I spend it doing all sorts of stuff and STILL don't have the angel costumes for church done (in very small sizes)... Mom's cutting table is out of comission at the moment due to other issues and we don't have a table inside and well, it's a very long story except suffice to say my little desk (where I have my sewing machine) just isn't big enough to do this and the floor is treacherous due to two puppies. As a related side note, my beloved 11 year old German Shepherd died last week. But she had a good run for a shepherd and is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge now and hanging with Thunder (my brother's dog who died last year at the age of 16) Meanwhile, what have I gotten done? A cute sock monkey for a very very sweet and handsome nephew (pity the boy is not loved nearly enough ;) ) and some soap. And almost have another two needle hat done. That makes three. And they are so blissfully simple!!!! Next I have to make a sock monkey sweater. Will give more info when I figure it out. posted by Naomi 3:22 PM Add a comment
Two days down with the flu and what do I do? Make up a pattern for you all! The Two Needle Underemployed Hat (This toboggan is designed partially due to my own need for a simple hat and partially due to my father's suggestion to knit everyone toboggans for Christmas... Underemployed is because my hours at work got cut and this uses whatever type of yarn you have on hand!) Materials/Tools: (I'm still unsure of yardage, but it wouldn't even take a full skein of anything) Two skeins (Two colors) worsted weight yarn (I used some unlabeled stash wool, but it would prob take the equivelant of half of two small skeins of red heart) Size 11 Needles (NO gauge really, I'm way too simple on this) Cast on 48 stitches Work 15 rows of K2P2 ribbing Work 12 rows Stockinette stitch, ending on purl row K6 K2Together to end Purl K5 K2Together to end Purl K4 K2Together to end Purl K3 K2Together to end Purl K2 K2Together to end Purl K1 K2Together to end Purl Break off, run yarn through last stitches and stitch up seam. posted by Naomi 6:27 PM Add a comment
